Custom Modular Display Frame – Alexander McQueen Project

For Alexander McQueen’s fashion show, we designed a unique, modular display frame in collaboration with the romantic studio Andrea Caputo. The large-scale frame combines flawless engineering with a stunning design, and users can easily reuse and ship it internationally. Its elegant, simple design makes the frame visually appealing in a variety of settings. Thanks to the modular display system, users can easily add extra components or incorporate options into future presentations, enabling quick adaptation and scalability. We built the frame for durability and designed it to allow transparent reuse.

Our Part in the Modular Display

We handled every aspect of the frame’s construction, including:

Using precision-cut aluminium square tubes, sourced from high-quality stock materials, and neatly numbering them to speed up assembly and prevent mistakes.
Assembling complex aluminium joints with Topclamp connectors to make setup, takedown, and reassembly effortless.
Attaching decorative elements—such as metal butterflies and mirror-polished stainless steel plates—securely to the tubes via threaded holes.

Not just because it’s a work of art, but because it’s also a really practical solution – a system of joints that can be broken down, shipped across continents, and put back together in two days flat. Outcome

Bij dit project draaide alles om het combineren van het beste van techniek, ontwerp en functionaliteit, om een complexe internationale modepresentatie er eenvoudig uitvoerbaar uit te laten zien.

Het tijdschrift Champ schreef over dit project:

” Wat het meest fascinerend is aan het ontwerp van de installatie, is de functionele aanpak; hoewel het bestaat uit een geavanceerd systeem van verbindingen, kan het gemakkelijk worden gedemonteerd en opnieuw gemonteerd voor verder gebruik – waardoor innovatie en duurzaamheid in het ontwerp gewaarborgd blijven. Het ontwerp, dat bestaat uit drie onafhankelijke mechanische structuren die samen een geheel vormen, creëert een rechthoekige vorm die kan worden gemanipuleerd afhankelijk van de externe omgeving en de beschikbare ruimte.
